PTA St Andrews Experience

When I arrived at school at half past 6 in the morning and Tara asked me to go to Scotland with her I couldn’t believe it! Wow how privileged I was! At last the day came for us to leave! My Mum and I met Richelle and Tara, the lucky winners, and Lynne at the O.R Tambo Airport. The flight there, in business class, was amazing! The spacious seats were like lounger chairs, able to lie down as if on a bed. There was even a massage settingJ! We arrived at Frankfurt Airport at 05h00 in the morning and were able to see a wonderful sunrise over the black forests. We lounged in a McDonalds for 6 hours. Flying over Scotland was an amazing sight! Everything there was so green! We all had an absolute ball learning to play golf at the St Dukes Golf Course, as well as relaxing in the 5star spa in the St Andrews hotel. We also visited one of the oldest churches in Europe which was built in 1272. It was quite creepy seeing 1000s of graves and tombs. We also went to see Castle ruins that had a magnificent view of the ocean. The Castle that we visited even had dungeons! The weather was lovely even though it rained for the day we went horse riding in the mountains and fields. There’s no better way to experience Scotland than on a horse in the pouring Scottish rain! We bought lots of souvenirs on Market Street, and used up our gift vouches to buy a super cute, golfer teddy! I was amazed by how many chimneys were on 1 roof, it reminded me of the Mary Poppins movie. The beaches were beautiful; the sand looked like someone had spilt gold glitter everywhere. We were also fortunate enough to meet the Scottish rugby team, get a photo with the captain Chris Patterson AND watch them practise on the neighbouring fields. The hotel was luxurious and we loved every minute of our trip. I’d like to thank the P.T.A. for organising this once in a life-time holiday, Richelle and Tara Crots for taking me with and Lynne for all the laughs and jokes she made along the way.
